US-China Matchmaking Trade Mission ’02

August 25 – 31, 2002, Shanghai, Qingdao and Beijing
(plus an optional Mongolian excursion Aug. 31 – Sep. 3, 2002)

BACKGROUND
---------------
For an emerging SME (Small and Medium-sized Enterprise), a good survival
strategy amid the current slowdown at home may be to cut costs and grow
sales by going global. With a 1.3-billion population and 1/20 of the labor
costs here, China poises to be the best playing-field to “kill two birds
with one stone”. Not to mention China’s recent WTO entry and winning bid to
host the 2008 Olympics, both of which will certainly open it further to
Western businesses.

WHAT IT IS ABOUT
----------------------
“Sure. But where do I start?” Our annual matchmaking trade mission (MTM)
may be the answer.
During our first MTM in 2001, we brought 70+ North American SME business
owners and executives into China - most visiting the country for the first
time - to meet close to 1000 businesses from Shanghai, Fuzhou, Changsha,
Hangzhou, Taizhou and Beijing. Many walked away with promising leads (with
touristy photos and stuffed shopping bags to boot). Details at
www.MeetChinaBiz.org.
Simply put, our trade missions provide SMEs here a fast and practical
channel into the China market. What’s more, with heavy Chinese government
subsidies, it is also a very inexpensive way to visit China, especially for
first-timers…

Anyone who wants to explore the China market, trim costs or land new
business.
