The Lehigh Valley has an additional option for bus transportation to New York City.

GotoBus is providing daily trips each night from Allentown to Manhattan, arriving near Canal Street in Chinatown, according to a news release. Service began Saturday.

Buses leave the region at 10 p.m. from 215 W. Hamilton St. and arrive in New York at 6 Allen St. A trip into the area leaves at 7 p.m. from lower Manhattan.

GotoBus marketing manager Kim Veiga said the service likely appeals to general travelers, although commuters who have business appointments the following day might take advantage of the night trip.

Trans-Bridge Lines offers daily commutes to New York City stopping across the Lehigh Valley and western New Jersey, while Bieber Tourways provides connections to Manhattan from Hellertown.

Cambridge, Mass.-based GotoBus is contracting with Sky Line Bus for the new routes. A round trip costs $28, or $15 one way.

The GotoBus announcement coincides with a similar service it introduced between State College and New York City. That round trip costs $70, or $35 one way.

Veiga said riders can reserve online at gotobus.com/chinatownbus. Full schedules and ticketing information are available at gotobus.com.
