Home sales slowed in Massachusetts in March, bucking the trend of another strong gain nationwide.
The number of detached single-family homes sold fell 8.6 percent compared with a year ago, and condominium sales fell 3.1 percent.
Prices, however, continued to rise up 13.8 percent for single-family homes to $345,381 and up 10.4 percent for condominiums to $248,948.
Condo sale prices were up nearly 5 percent even from February, the Massachusetts Association of Realtors reported Friday.
Nationally, sales of new homes shot up 7.3 percent in March, the biggest gain in seven months, as continued low mortgage rates and better weather helped offset two consecutive months of falling sales, the Commerce Department reported.
